About
Singer & Songwriter
Intimate pop wrapped in dreamy textures, soft vocals, and the nostalgic warmth of Bossa Nova
Julia Castro is a Brazilian singer-songwriter blending intimate Pop, dreamy textures, delicate vocals, and the nostalgic warmth of Bossa Nova. After graduating from Idyllwild Arts Academy in California, she is now focused on launching her original music before beginning her studies at Berklee College of Music in 2027.
Introduced to 60s music by her father, Julia grew up listening to soul and jazz icons such as Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, and Ella Fitzgerald, Julia developed an early connection to emotionally honest songwriting. At thirteen, she performed Etta James’ “At Last” on The Voice Kids Brazil. In 2024, she received a full scholarship to Berklee’s summer program, where she performed her original song “Intertwined” at The Red Room.
In Los Angeles, Julia performed originals including “Like the Waves,” “Just for a Day,” and “Over You” at Brandy Melville Studios and appeared at venues through Breaking Sound. She was also invited by the GRAMMY Museum to participate in its Songwriting Sessions and GRAMMY Camp and performed “Over You” and “You and I” at the Clive Davis Theater as part of the Museum’s Student Showcase.
Julia is now preparing to release her debut single, “Like the Waves” in 2026, the first chapter of her upcoming EP, If Silence Could Speak.
